[ No one can blame anyone who wants to escape the clammy confines of the basement, though Broca hasn't put that much effort into climbing his way up even when he did have more money to his name. Pre-death he could have pretty easily at least gotten to rank three or four, but hadn't really bothered with playing their game, instead sitting on his points and his earnings.

... Foolish in retrospect, because the clinic staff really did clean him out completely when the time case for him to repay them for his treatment.

At least he knows some people kind enough to offer him meals while he starts to scrape together some savings again, and while Broca's not broaching the subject yet, the very real possibility of quick cash from the usual means here does occur to him. Sizhui has slept with him once before, after all, though he's not taking for granted that means he'll be down for it a second time.

... He has had a lot of repeat customers on that front though, so he's not particular skittish about asking if it seems a good time for it.

For the time being there's just a quiet nod on is part, as he turns on the tap and gets to cleaning. Domestic work isn't necessarily an aspect Broca excels at, but anyone with even the lightest level of competency can at least wash a dish. ]

[seems like he and sizhui have that in common: sitting on their earnings and points. sizhui's just never thought about anything he may want, aside from his guqin and sword, but he's been doing alright without them, too. there hasn't been any huge need to fight and when the need does arise, he can still use talismans and arrays to his advantage. perhaps he'll use them one day, but until then, they'll continue to sit unused.

unfortunate for broca that they took everything from him, but given the circumstances . . .

there's less need to worry when there are people like lan sizhui, people who don't mind sharing their wealth, sexual favors included. maybe that isn't clear now, it will eventually come up here after a while and broca will quickly learn that sizhui's willing to sleep with him again. their first time together may have been a little spontaneously planned thanks to aphro'd shampoo, though that didn't make it any less enjoyable. (and this time, they'll be better prepared than they were in the showers.)

while broca gets to cleaning, he keeps right on putting the leftovers away, returning to the table to collect the fruit bowl, which he covers with its lid before also putting that into the fridge. the fish, however, gets put into a plastic tupperware and is closed and added to the other items, the pan he'd used to cook it in being set on the counter for broca to wash.]

[ Admittedly the lack of a workbench is starting to hurt Broca a bit, but given he's somehow managed to make friends with people in high places, he's been given access to tools once again, and that has curbed the worst of his need to build things. ... It might be nice to have his drill in hand again too though, and that's mostly a weapon, so he would understand Sizhui on that front.

A funny thought from two men who are used to combatting strange creatures when right now they're in the middle of the most domestic behavior imaginable. It hardly matters that they're also doing this while stuck in a sex resort, there's something just peacefully mundane about the whole thing that has Broca's mind drifting into a quiet lull as he starts to clean the last washable object: the pan. ]

[if there ever comes a time where broca wants to use a workbench, sizhui could probably invest in one for him? or, if they're even luckier, he could request it and with his higher rank, it could just be provided and he wouldn't even have to worry about using points. as for the drill, however, sizhui would take solace in knowing that he's not the only one who thinks they should be prepared for anything when it comes to the golden peacock.

there's something about watching broca do the dishes that is just oddly relaxing; he could stand there all day and probably not get tired of it, but they're fortunate that broca's quick and is finishing up by cleaning the pan that he'd added only moments ago, leaving him just sort of staring with a silly little smile on his face. luckily, he notices he's doing it before it becomes too obvious, which prompts him to shake his head and say,]

[ That Broca has found himself a stable of higher ranked friends that are willing to provide him tools to putter around with is nothing short of a miracle to him. He didn't go into all of this assuming he'd build the kind of connections needed for people to want to go out of their way for him, and yet Sizhui isn't the first person to offer that.

Admittedly with Wriothesley's offer of free use of a work bench, it's because the man had one already for himself.

Also admittedly he wouldn't think to ask that of Sizhui. Even taking note of the look he's getting from the younger man, it doesn't occur to him to make much of it, and certainly not to take advantage of any sort of affection he might have been earning.

Though he does cock his head to the side slightly in silent question, wondering what all that was about. People can tell him up and down how hot he is, but that people might enjoy looking at him still doesn't seem to sink in for this man. ]

No problem. Washing dishes is pretty easy.

[ It seems he's taking that no problem pretty literally here. ]

[wriothesley's a good man, too. sizhui's met up with him a few times now and has found that he likes his company quite a lot, although he cannot say if wriothesley feels the same, as that is the sort of assumption he wouldn't make about himself. if broca takes wriothesley up on his offer, however, at least he can know that he's in good hands.

to be fair, it isn't odd that broca wouldn't ask sizhui, considering he's not really the type to have a workbench. his hobbies are more along the lines of music and calligraphy rather than working with tools and making things that way.

at the head-tilt, his cheeks blush faintly and he averts his gaze, silently hoping broca won't ask, even if he already has an answer prepared for if he does. lucky for him, broca's not all that curious about his staring, meaning he's gotten away with it (for now) and he needn't explain and further embarrass himself by admitting that watching broca do something as domestic as washing dishes is kind of a turn-on.

he does clear his throat before turning his attention back to broca, his smile returning moments later following that remark.]

True, true. I suppose I'm just not used to people offering to help with such things.

[ There are all sorts of people and all sorts of desires in this world. Broca might not fully understand the appeal of watching someone perform routine tasks himself, but he can appreciate the sex appeal of competency. Watching someone confident take command of a room while showing off their skills may not fully arouse Broca, but it will capture his interest in a way few other things will.

So he would kind of get it, even if right now he's just chalking it up to yet another sex resort thing. It's becoming harder to look at people without that particular topic floating to the forefront of one's mind. At least that's the case for him these days, as he finds his thoughts drifting to sex more often than they used to.

There's another moment of questioning look, as he waits to see if Sizhui is going to proposition for more, or just continue the conversation, before letting it go and turning back to drying his hands off on the dish towel. ]

You should make them do it. If you're doing them a favor, they should do one for you in turn.

[just as there are things that turn other people on that sizhui doesn't quite understand, although he would never judge someone for it; people are different and they always will be. it is nice to meet individuals who have similar interests, however, and given where they are, sex always seems to be something that eventually comes up. currently, it isn't the first thing that comes to mind, but it definitely niggles at the back of his mind as an afterthought.

he tucks both arms behind his back, fingers interlocking, his gaze unwavering in hopes that his thoughts won't linger too long or else he very well might have to explain himself, which wouldn't be a bad thing... he just doesn't want to rush into anything.

(funny, considering how quickly they'd gotten busy during their first meeting.)]

You think so? I'm used to doing things for people, I guess, but it isn't often they do things in kind. I'll have to remember this for the next time I help someone and they don't offer something in return.

[ It's hard not to think about it in passing at most times, especially in a place that shoves it so blatantly in the face of its guests whenever possible. Broca remembers a time in his life when he could go weeks without really considering sex even once, and while he'd be lying if he said he didn't enjoy the encounters here, there was a certain kind of peace that came from letting his dick stay dry for an extended period of time.

At the very least for every Sizhui he knows, he knows at least one significantly more difficult character that worms there way into his bed as well.

Though given Broca's propensity for having sex in public places these days, the bed is very much just a metaphor.

Broca gives that comment some consideration for a moment, before his eyes drift down to the countertop in front of him. ]

One quick knock to the head...

[ And here he mimes grabbing someone by the back of the head and bopping said head down right on the counter. ]

Not hard enough to do any real damage, but it'd help them remember next time.

[ He says it with such a serious look on his face, but surely he's joking, right?

(He's not joking...) ]

[before his world-hopping, sizhui hadn't ever thought about intimacy, especially not with people he hardly knows most times. thinking about it, he wonders if he would be judged in his homeworld, but part of him knows the individuals he cares about would understand, which is all that really matters to him in the end. strangely though, the golden peacock is the first place where he doesn't have to be hypersexual to survive and that helps him in the long run too, he thinks.

sure, he has to participate to keep from turning to stone, but he has those he's close enough to that can help him out with that and maybe that says something about how much he has enjoyed his own encounters, especially when he keeps going back.

as for sizhui, a bed is usually where he's most comfortable, though he has been convinced to perform a couple times in public now.

his eyebrows lift at broca's suggestion, a grin spreading across his face once he gestures knocking someone's head against the counter.] I feel like a quick knock to the head wouldn't include bashing said head into a countertop. Might be a bit excessive.

However, [he pauses, raises a hand from his side and lightly smacks himself against the back of the head,] this wouldn't be so bad when it comes to giving someone a knock.

I can't remember where I heard it; a slap to the face is an insult, but a slap to the head is a wake-up call.

[ A couple of times in public... Yeah, Broca's aware of that fact as one of those public times, though circumstances being what they were, it wasn't like either of them had private rooms to sneak off to even if they had the fortitude to pull it off. The initial batch of newer arrivals had been given roommates, and it left very little in the way of private spaces offered.

Seems like Sizhui at least is doing much better for himself now, even if Broca managed to keep the room he was initially given, despite his temporary roommate no longer being in it.

Still must be nice to actually have things like a countertop that Broca is now leaning against, his miming of a giving someone a concussion already done with. ]

Guess that works too. Some people need harder wake-up calls than others though.

[ Though with arms like Broca's, he could still probably give someone an effective wake-up call using Sizhui's method. ]

[definitely doing better for himself, especially since he doesn't have to limp off somewhere and figure out how to take care of himself without having an actual place to go. his room is lavish, more than he would've ever asked for, but he's happy with it, the kitchen in particular because it seems like many of the lower-ranked rooms don't have such luxuries; it just means he can share his with the friends he's made and that makes him feel good.

while broca makes himself comfortable, sizhui stretches both arms above his head, reaching until there's a faint pop from his shoulders then he drops both arms back to his sides again, exhaling a breath of relief.]

I suppose that's fair, but do you really want to give someone a concussion or crack their skull open? [funnily enough, broca's arms are exactly what he's thinking of when he continues,] With how strong you are, I think you could do just fine without having to use a countertop.

[he steps forward and turns, leaning himself against the counter beside broca, one arm resting across his middle, the opposite elbow propping up on the surface for extra support.] But I'm not going to tell you what you can and can't do.

[if broca wants to give someone a concussion, that's his own business. (as long as it's not him or someone he knows, anyway.)]

[ Depending on the person he may very well want to do just that. Though Broca at least has the sense to understand this is not the most comforting thing to confess to, so he just shrugs one burly shoulder instead, like the idea hadn't really occurred to him before.

... But it had, and he's done a number on some skulls in the past during his mafia days.

At least Sizhui doesn't seem particular bothered by the idea, so it's nice to know there won't be much judgment on this particular issue. ]

[although sizhui doesn't seem uncomfortable, he does worry and wonder about who may bother broca enough to end up getting a concussion from having their head bashed into a countertop. mostly, he's concerned about broca, but his thoughts do wander to the other individual, what they did and how bad it was, even if he doesn't linger on it for too long.

hearing about broca being in the mafia, however, that would make a whole lot of sense as to why he's taking numbers and cracking skulls.]

Usually, [he repeats, smiling faintly and downcasting his attention to their feet, his arms moving to cross over his chest now.] Has anyone here given you trouble? To the point that you've had to crack their skull, I mean.

[ It's a reasonable wonder without a fully reasonable answer. Not everything Broca has done in his life has been for particularly personal reasons, and the majority of the concussions he's caused (as well as injuries far more serious) have been on the orders of others rather than his own whims.

Though admittedly it doesn't take too much pushing for Broca to agree to a fight.

The question actually has him pausing to think, frowning as he debates if some of the more difficult people he knows have annoyed him that much yet. ]

No one besides the House.

[ If he finds out where they are and who they are... Now those are some skulls he'd love to crack. ]

[one day, he and sizhui will have to spar. he's been doing his best at keeping up with his practicing and he likes having a variety of partners during his upkeep, that way the variation can keep him on his toes, whether it's while wielding weapons or simply hand-to-hand combat.

and hey, at least broca won't have to worry about concussing him? he's quick enough to get away if necessary before things get too crazy if that were the case.

the frown is concerning initially, but broca's answer has him laughing softly, his head shaking and a faint smile upticking his lips.] I think more than a few of us would like to crack the House's skulls, so there might be a line.

[sizhui is one of those people, but he's not going to admit that aloud and end up having something happen because someone happens to be listening to their conversation.]

[ It's for the best he's light on his feet. Broca isn't well known for being good at pulling punches when he gets competitive, even if he'd feel a little guilty about knocking someone out during what is supposed to be a friendly sparring match. Having someone who can match his strength or surpass him makes everything a lot easier.

After all, while Broca can't pull punches, he can take them, so it's fine if someone tougher than him roughs him up a bit.

As long as it's someone he likes anyway. The House and their goons are not included in this list. ]

I don't mind taking turns as long as I still get one.

[ Sizhui is playing it safe, but Broca sure isn't. They can hear him badmouth them all they want, they should be aware he's not their biggest fan, and he would do violence against them given half a chance. ]

[which is perfect because, despite his looks, sizhui also has superstrength on his side and he's been known to use the ability if the situation calls for it. sparring with broca might be one of those times and he wouldn't mind having to use it, especially if it means being able to match broca's strength.

it would, however, be slightly amusing to see someone as small as sizhui manhandle a big ol' guy like broca.

when it comes to the house and their helpers, though:] Well, for what it's worth, I'd make sure you would still get a turn.

[does that count as sort of getting his own turn? who knows, but it's the truth; he would help broca get a chance to lay into the house if it meant getting to watch him do so. it would be quite satisfying, in his honest opinion.]

[ It's not too unusual where Broca comes from. Small size doesn't always mean a weaker body, and Terrans are a bit extreme when it comes to their strength and toughness regardless of how compact their builds can be. It means Broca wouldn't really bat an eyelash at Sizhui being able to throw him around like a ragdoll, even if others might be surprised.

Might be nice to have a fight with someone that could actually send him flying though. It's been so long since he's really had even a spar. The closest he's had to a real fight had been stomping Crawlers to death.

He'd happily take a one sided beating in lieu if it was him getting to smack around the House though. Sizhui's comment draws the smallest little smirk out of him. ]

[it isn't too unusual for sizhui, either. while he's one of the smaller people in his clan, there are people even slighter than him who have shown their strength in ways people might not be able to imagine. still, it would be amusing, nevertheless, and could be a sight for those who wouldn't expect it. the fact that broca wouldn't even bat an eye at sizhui's ability to manhandle him would definitely be amusing, though.

one of these days, they'll have to spar, and sizhui can show off his moves, something he didn't get to do whenever that happened.

the cultivator smiles and,] You're welcome, [he chuckles, pushing up from the countertop and stretching his arms above his head.] Ahhh, I suppose it's getting a bit late, hm?

[ Although Broca doesn't usually fight in his free time, he's spent a lot of his life as a brawler, and it might be a nice way to get out some pent up frustrations with this place. Anyone that asked for a bout would get an immediate and easy yes from the man at this point.

Questions like the one that Sizhui just asked, however, need a little more thought, or at least some clarification. ]

Just to sleep, or are you asking to have sex?

[ Because the offer seemed tame enough, but it's genuinely hard to tell in Hotel Sex, especially when the time of day has very little meaning in this place anyway, so it being too late doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

He doesn't mind a thinly veiled excuse any more than a real offer though, and there's no judgement in his tone as he asks the question. ]

[another good reason for sparring, honestly. if it helps in that sense too, he'd be happy to help broca out, regardless of how often it may be. (sizhui trains either daily or every other day since they can't be too careful when it comes to their surroundings and it wouldn't do for him to be out of shape and not be able to fight.)

following broca's answer, his face blushes hotly, one hand lifting to rub across his cheeks. well, he supposes he hadn't specified, but.] I was thinking just to sleep, but if you want to have sex, I'm not opposed.

[the fact there's no judgemental tone to broca's voice helps a bit; it wouldn't do for him to lose his poise too much, after all, and he hopes broca doesn't pay too close attention to the redness spreading back toward his ears and down his neck.

getting embarrassed about this sort of thing feels a little silly, given how much sex he's actually had by now, though he hadn't really been expecting broca to ask such a question. nevertheless, it makes sense why he asked and sizhui's not worried about clarifying, whether that means they simply do just sleep together or they sleep together in a whole other sense.]

[ Unfortunate for Sizhui, Broca does notice the flushed skin at the admission he gives. Fortunately for Sizhui, however, Broca doesn't comment at all about it. Some people are more blasé about sex than others, and he realizes he's on the extreme end of treating it like a handshake.

His tail swishes behind him thoughtfully, one ear twitching to the side as he considers his options here. ]

It's alright with me either way, though sometimes I get... weird around three in the morning, so I might want to then anyway.

[ That's a nice way to put the "affection" that the doctor that saved his life had let "slip in" during the life saving... surgery(?) they'd performed on him. ]

[how lucky that broca doesn't remark on it or else sizhui would've just turned even redder. sure, he's used to sex being A Thing at this point, but that doesn't make him any less embarrassed when talking about it with someone. even more fortunate, however, is the fact he and broca have hooked up before, so it's not nearly as flustering as it might normally be.

his attention flicks from broca's tail back to his face, wide eyes blinking lightly, his brow furrowing in half-confusion afterward.]

What do you mean by ‘weird’? [a beat then,] Not that it matters, I'm just curious. [and curiosity killed the cat (but satisfaction brought it back, of course).

affection is easy for sizhui to handle, so it seems likely that he'll reciprocate, regardless of how late in the morning it is.]

[ Even with the frequent sex that this place throws at its guests, it's understandable that this kind of blasé talk about it cause a little fluster in most people. Broca's inability to get embarrassed about sex existed before this constant exposure to it though, so it being tossed at him to the point of feeling ubiquitous has really dulled his ability to get flustered.

It's a little cute on Sizhui though, but he'll kindly not bring that up either.

Besides, he can still get flustered about other things himself. He's certainly looking a little uncomfortable now as he tries to decide how to admit to this, his ears moving back a tick as he hums thoughtfully to stall.

When he finally admits to it, it's with his eyes closed, his face pinched in a slightly pained expression, and his arms crossed in a very clear display of closed off body language. ]
